Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara

Depart Nairobi early in the morning for the Masai Mara, a drive of about 5–6 hours. Stop briefly at a viewpoint to admire the Great Rift Valley Landscapes before continuing to the reserve. Arrive at your lodge or camp in time for lunch, then relax before heading out on your first afternoon game drive. This exciting introduction to the Masai Mara offers opportunities to spot elephants, lions, giraffes and zebras. Return to camp for dinner and enjoy the evening around the campfire.

Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara
Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, set out for a full-day game drive with a packed picnic lunch. Spend the day exploring the Mara’s vast plains, home to some of Africa’s greatest concentrations of wildlife. Look out for the Big Five, predators, herds of wildebeest and antelope. Along the Mara River, you may spot hippos and crocodiles. Enjoy your picnic lunch in the heart of the reserve before continuing the adventure. Later in the afternoon, return to your camp for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, you may choose to stop for an optional visit to a Maasai village (about $20 per person) to experience the community’s unique culture and traditions.
