Drive from Moshi to Lemosho Gate. Begin trek through rainforest, spotting monkeys and birds. Overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,800m).

Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

Climb out of the forest into moorland, crossing ridges and valleys before reaching the vast Shira Plateau. Camp at Shira 1 (3,500m).
