The tour begins early in the morning with a transfer from your hotel to the airport. After a scenic flight, you’ll arrive directly in Mikumi where your professional guide will welcome you for a full-day group game drive. Known as “The Little Serengeti,” Mikumi is rich with wildlife and open savannahs, giving you the chance to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and many more. In the late afternoon, you’ll fly back to Zanzibar and return to your hotel by evening — all in one unforgettable day.

Overview day trip schedule

Your adventure begins around 05:00 AM, when you will be picked up from your hotel in Zanzibar and transferred to the airport for your morning flight to Mikumi. After about an hour of flying, you will land at the Mikumi airstrip at approximately 08:00 AM, where your guide will be waiting to welcome you. From here, the group safari begins with an exciting morning game drive across the park’s open plains, where you can spot elephants, lions, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, buffalo, and a wide variety of birdlife. Around 12:30 PM, you will take a break to enjoy a freshly prepared lunch inside the park, giving you a chance to relax and soak in the beautiful scenery. After lunch, the adventure continues with another game drive through the afternoon, often a great time to see predators in action and animals gathering near waterholes. By 03:30 PM, you will head back toward the airstrip for your return flight to Zanzibar, which departs around 05:30 PM. You will arrive back on the island at 06:30 PM, where a driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel, marking the end of an unforgettable one-day safari.
