Mandara Hut

Altitude: 1,860m to 2,700m Time: 4–5 hours Habitat: Rainforest Register at Marangu Gate and trek through lush forest where you might spot colobus monkeys. Overnight stay at Mandara Hut.

Altitude: 2,700m to 3,720m Time: 6–8 hours Habitat: Moorland Hike past Maundi Crater with magnificent views of Kibo Peak. Trek through heath and moorland landscapes. Overnight stay at Horombo Hut.

Kibo Hut

Altitude: 3,720m to 4,703m Time: 6–8 hours Habitat: Alpine desert Pass the “Last Water Point” and hike the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Dinner and overnight rest at Kibo Hut.

Uhuru Peak

Altitude: 4,703m to 5,895m (then down to 3,720m) Time: 10–14 hours Habitat: Arctic zone, then moorland A midnight summit attempt via Gilman’s Point. Reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise, then descend back to Horombo Hut for overnight.

Back to Moshi

Altitude: 3,720m to 1,860m Time: 5–7 hours Habitat: Rainforest Final descent through the forest to Marangu Gate. Collect your summit certificates and transfer back to Moshi or Arusha.
