Moshi – Machame Gate – Machame Camp

After breakfast in Moshi, we drive to Machame Gate for registration. The trek begins through lush rainforest trails. You’ll spot beautiful flora and possibly colobus monkeys as you hike to Machame Camp (3,000m). The day ends with dinner and overnight at the camp.

Today’s climb starts with a steep ascent out of the forest into moorland. You'll enjoy stunning views of the Shira Plateau as you make your way to Shira Camp (3,840m). It’s a shorter but steeper hike, helping your body begin to acclimatize.

This is a key acclimatization day. You hike to Lava Tower (4,630m) for lunch before descending to Barranco Camp (3,960m). The “climb high, sleep low” strategy boosts your chances of summit success. The Barranco Wall looms above, a challenge for the next day.
