Moshi – Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate for registration and briefing. After meeting your mountain crew, you’ll start the hike through lush rainforest trails. Along the way, you may spot blue monkeys and exotic birds. The hike takes about 4–5 hours to reach Mandara Hut (2,700m), where you’ll spend your first night in a shared mountain hut.

After breakfast, you’ll continue hiking through moorland terrain with views of Mawenzi Peak in the distance. The trail gradually ascends to Horombo Hut (3,720m). On the way, enjoy the changing landscapes and fresh mountain air. This is a longer day of walking, taking around 6–7 hours.

Today, you’ll hike past the last water point and enter the alpine desert zone. The path leads to Kibo Hut (4,700m), located at the base of the summit trail. After arriving, you’ll have an early dinner and rest as you prepare for the midnight summit attempt.
