Akagera

You will be picked up at 08:00 from your hotel in Kigali and embark on a scenic drive to Akagera National Park with a lunch stopover. Akagera National Park, located in eastern Rwanda along the border with Tanzania, is a stunning savannah and wetland reserve renowned for being Rwanda’s only Big Five wildlife destination. Upon arrival, you will have game drive, with chances to spot elephants, zebras, giraffes, and a wide range of bird species and later head to Akagera Transit Lodge night.

Start with a relaxed breakfast before heading to Lake Ihema for a 09:00 guided boat ride. Spot water birds like the papyrus gonolek and the elusive shoebill stork. Rejoin your guide for a full-day game drive exploring the southern giraffe area and the lakes road toward Birengero. Enjoy a hot lunch again at Lake Mihindi Restaurant. The afternoon is packed with chances to see buffalo, lions, antelope, and possibly even leopards or white rhinos. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
