Arrival in Moshi and Preparations

Kilimanjaro

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you'll be met by our team and transferred to Moshi. The rest of the day is dedicated to essential preparations for your climb. This includes a comprehensive briefing about the route, safety procedures, and what to expect on the mountain. You'll also have the opportunity to double-check your equipment and ensure you have everything necessary for a successful trek.

Trek to Machame Camp

Your adventure begins with a drive from Moshi to the Machame Gate, the starting point of the popular Machame Route. After completing the necessary park formalities, your ascent commences through the lush rainforest. The trail gradually climbs, offering glimpses of unique flora and fauna. You'll eventually reach the Machame Camp, nestled at an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters (9,840 feet), where you'll spend your first night on the mountain.

Trek to Shira Camp

Today's trek takes you out of the rainforest and into the moorland zone. The landscape transforms, revealing dramatic volcanic features and panoramic views. You'll hike across ridges and valleys, gaining altitude steadily until you arrive at the Shira Camp, situated on the Shira Plateau at around 3,840 meters (12,600 feet). This camp offers magnificent views of Kibo, Kilimanjaro's highest cone.

Trek to Barranco Camp

This day is crucial for acclimatization. You'll ascend to the Lava Tower, a striking volcanic plug towering at approximately 4,630 meters (15,190 feet). Spending time at this altitude helps your body adapt to the thinner air. Afterward, you'll descend to the Barranco Camp, located in a sheltered valley at around 3,900 meters (12,800 feet). This descent aids in further acclimatization and offers stunning views of the Barranco Wall.

Trek to Karanga Camp

Today involves tackling the Barranco Wall, a non-technical but moderately challenging climb. Once you conquer the wall, the trail continues along ridges and valleys, offering spectacular views of the southern ice fields of Kibo. You'll then descend to the Karanga Camp, situated at approximately 4,035 meters (13,235 feet). This shorter hiking day allows for further acclimatization before the summit push.

Summit Attempt via Barafu Camp

Your summit ascent will be in the early hours of the morning, to the Barafu Camp (approx. 4,640 meters / 15,225 feet) is steep and challenging. After a brief rest at Barafu, you'll continue your climb towards the summit, aiming to reach Uhuru Peak, at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), around sunrise. Witness the sunrise from the summit is an unforgettable experience. After celebrating achievement, you'll begin your descent back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to the Mweka Camp.

Descent to Mweka Gate and Departure

After a well-deserved breakfast, you'll complete your descent to the Mweka Gate. The trail is relatively gentle and passes through the lush forest once again. At the gate, you'll complete the necessary park formalities and receive your summit certificate, a testament to your incredible accomplishment. Our team will then transfer you back to Moshi, where your mountain adventure concludes.
