Moshi -Machame Gate to Machame Camp

After breakfast in Moshi, you'll drive to Machame Gate (approx. 1–1.5 hrs). Registration with Kilimanjaro National Park and meet the porters, guides, and cooks. Begin your trek through lush rainforest, with a chance to see blue monkeys and exotic birds. Trail is often damp and slippery, trekking poles recommended. Arrive at Machame Camp, nestled in the forest. Hiking time: 5–7 hours Distance: 11 km Habitat: Rainforest

Machame Camp to Shira Camp (3,850m)

Leave the forest and enter moorland, with heather and volcanic rock formations. Steady ascent with views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. Camp on a high plateau at Shira, with great views across the plains. Hiking time: 4–6 hours Distance: 5 km Habitat: Moorland

Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
