Wildlife in the Ngorongoro Crater:
The Ngorongoro Crater is a unique habitat supporting a high density of diverse wildlife. Due to the crater's natural boundaries, many animals are permanent residents. You can expect to see:

Mammals:
Carnivores: Lions (highest density in the world), leopards, cheetahs, spotted hyenas, jackals, servals, caracals, and the rare golden cat.
Herbivores: Wildebeest (over 7,000), zebras (around 4,000), buffaloes, elands, Thomson's and Grant's gazelles (around 3,000 each), hartebeests, waterbucks, and hippos.
Endangered: Black rhinoceros (around 30 individuals, heavily protected).
Other: Elephants (some impressive tuskers), baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs. Note that giraffes are generally not found within the crater due to the steep descent and lack of their preferred acacia woodland habitat on the crater floor.
Birds: Over 500 species, including resident and migratory birds. Highlights include flamingos (both greater and lesser) on Lake Magadi, ostriches, kori bustards, various eagles, vultures, storks, and many smaller bird species
