Chemka oasis is a unique phenomenon; it is the only place in Tanzania (and most likely in the whole of East Africa), where the groundwater actively interacts with geothermal sources, forming a number of small lakes with warm, never-stagnating water, whose purity is not inferior to the best Dominican or Maldivian resorts.

The surrounding areas provide stunning views and a great picnic spot and a tour into one of the Maasai huts will be worthwhile.

The drive from Moshi to Kikuletwa Hot Springs will start on paved road toward Arusha, before turning left onto gravel road about 30 minutes later. The road will take you thru gorgeous African country side past bush land, dry riverbeds, baobab and acacia trees, among many others.

Your day starts around with pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. After a scenic 1.5–2 hour drive through the countryside, you’ll arrive at Chemka Hot Springs. Spend the morning swimming in the warm, crystal-clear water, swinging from tree ropes, or relaxing under the fig trees. Enjoy a picnic lunch or local hot meal near the springs. After lunch, you’ll have more time to swim or take a short nature walk. At about 3:30 PM, you’ll begin the return drive, arriving back in Arusha or Moshi.
