Embark on an unforgettable 5-day adventure into the heart of Tanzania's lush landscapes, where the ancient Mangamba Rainforest meets the breathtaking heights of the Usambara Mountains. This tour offers a unique blend of immersive nature experiences, cultural encounters, and stunning panoramic views.
Approximate trekking distance coverage is 21 km/8-10 hrs.
After breakfast get picked up at the hotel, and start walking through the Kwembago loyal villages uphill to the Magamba rain forest. Get into the thick rain forest of Magamba a home for different primates. Spend your time watching the black and white colobus monkeys, and velvet and blue monkeys. Keep trekking to an old German trench and hear about its historical military use by the German colonial soldiers and continue trekking to Kiguluhakwewa peak and enjoy the view of Lushoto town and other villages. Have your picnic lunch on the peak or somewhere in magamba village and overnight at Bush Baby homestay and campsite in Lukozi. This is the day of trekking through the natural forest, home of black and white Columbus monkeys, two-horned chameleons on the way, and a nice landscape. The lodge is a local neat and self-contained room.

After breakfast start walking through the villages of Mgwashi, farming areas, and having lunch at Rangwi sister’s convent and spend the night there- lovely landscape and a chance to interact with the local ethnic groups in traditional villages and learn traditional local ways of living, visiting traditional irrigation practices by the Shambaa. It is a day to learn about medicinal and spiritual herbs on the way. Accommodation is not luxury but basic and neat shared toilets.
Trekking through the villages, to the pottery village for the workshop and along the escapement of the mountains to Mtae – World class (The world class view point is because you will view about 180 degrees over the Tsavo west Kenya and Kilimanjaro). trekking proceeds to Mabughai the pottery workshop. Visit the pottery workshop and learn how to make pots using clay soil. Keep hiking to the end through the escapement of the Usambara Mountains while enjoying nice views of the plain. Have a lunch at Magumba view cottages lodge and check in also.
Early in the morning Drive to Lushoto in the same morning (Driving distance 63km). Then continue departing to Dar es Salaam, Tanga, or opt for more adventurous safaris in Moshi, or Arusha
