This 2-day safari from Zanzibar combines two of Tanzania’s top national parks, Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll have the chance to see the Big Five without going to Serengeti and more amazing wildlife.​

* The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, just two hours away. Often overshadowed by its more famous neighbors, Tarangire is a true hidden gem — a landscape of sweeping savannahs dotted with ancient baobab trees, shimmering seasonal swamps, and the largest elephant population per square kilometer in northern Tanzania.

As you enter the park, the golden plains unfold before you, alive with wildlife: zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, impalas, warthogs, and the ever-watchful predators — lions, leopards, and hyenas. Bird enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise, with over 500 recorded species adding color and song to the vast wilderness.

Around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park’s scenic spots — a chance to unwind and soak in the tranquil beauty of the wild. After lunch, set out on an afternoon game drive, tracing the park’s riverine systems and woodlands where animals gather to drink from the Tarangire River, the park’s vital lifeline during the dry season.

By late afternoon, you’ll leave the park and ascend into the Karatu area, where your lodge awaits amidst rolling green hills and coffee plantations. Settle in, relax, and enjoy a warm dinner surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature the perfect ending to your first day on safari.

* Day Two: Explore the Ngorongoro Crater – Nature’s Grand Amphitheater
The day begins with an early breakfast, followed by a scenic drive to the legendary Ngorongoro Crater one of Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Formed millions of years ago from the collapse of a massive volcano, this is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera, now teeming with life and breathtaking beauty.

As you descend the steep crater walls, the panorama unfolds into a vast natural sanctuary covering over 260 square kilometers of diverse habitats—open savannah, acacia woodlands, freshwater pools, and shimmering alkaline lakes. This self-contained ecosystem supports an astonishing density of wildlife, offering some of the best opportunities in Africa to see the Big Five lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and the rare black rhino all in a single game drive.

Throughout the morning, you might witness lion prides lazing in the tall grass, elephants ambling gracefully across the plains, hippos basking in cool pools, and flocks of flamingos painting the lakeshores pink.
