Arrival at Entebe
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide and transferred to your hotel in Kampala for check-in and a briefing about the safari. If time permits, you’ll embark on an evening city tour to visit key historical landmarks such as the Uganda National Museum, Kabaka’s Palace, Amin’s Torture Chambers, and the Old Kampala Mosque. Afterward, you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, nestled in the Virunga Volcanoes. The park is renowned for its unique ecosystem, home to mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and indigenous Batwa people. On your way, stop at the Equator crossing for an informative experience about the hemisphere forces and take a break for lunch in Mbarara city before continuing to the park. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and relax for the evening.

After an early breakfast, head to the park’s information center for a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette. Under the guidance of a UWA ranger, you’ll set off into the forest to track one of the park’s mountain gorilla families. The trek can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the gorillas’ location. Once you find them, you’ll spend a magical hour observing their behavior and taking photos. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation in the afternoon.

In the morning, gear up for golden monkey tracking. These rare, colorful primates are unique to the Virunga region, and tracking them through the bamboo forest provides a truly special wildlife encounter. After lunch at the lodge, enjoy the Batwa Trail Experience in the afternoon. The Batwa, the original inhabitants of the forest, will share their traditional knowledge, demonstrating hunting techniques, survival skills, and spiritual customs from their former life as forest dwellers.

Early in the morning, join a guided trek up Mount Sabinyo. The hike is challenging but rewarding, with the summit offering spectacular views of Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. As you ascend through bamboo forests, you might encounter wildlife like golden monkeys or even gorillas. After the hike, descend and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most scenic lakes, for a relaxing evening.

After breakfast, embark on a morning canoeing tour on Lake Bunyonyi, visiting Akampene Island, also known as the Punishment Island, where unmarried pregnant girls were once left to die. You’ll enjoy lunch en route and be dropped off at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 6-day adventure.
