Drive to Arusha National Park with our guide, Arusha National Park is one of the mysterious national park located in the northeast of Arusha city. Its famous for being a home to the Tanzania's second highest mountain, Mount Meru and the world's largest population of giraffes it has vegetation types like the lush rainforest, savannah, alpine vegetation. Arusha national park is known for the black-white colobus monkeys, Mount Meru, swamps, lakes, waterfalls and crater.

Momella Gates to Miriakamba huts

Drive from Arusha to Momella Gate, the guides will arrange the entry permit paperwork, and you will start trekking to Miriakamba Huts. An armed park ranger will accompany you from here. Afterward you will start climbing Mt Meru, the first day is more or less similar to a walking safari, on the way you should anticipate to spot some giraffes, zebras, antelopes and buffaloes. Since there is high possibility of spotting wildlife, you will be escorted by an armed ranger.

Miriakamba Hut

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

After refreshing breakfast you will start your Mt Meru climbing on a steep path along the forest zone, you will follow wooden steps along a steep track. Due to the gain in altitude, it will be noticeably cooler than the preceding day and walking may look easier. The clouds often hang low in the rainforest, creating a moody atmosphere in the lush vegetation.

Saddle Hut

Saddle Hut-Meru summit peak- Arusha

You'll start climbing between 1 to 2 am at night, start your final push to the summit. You will start by trading on the steep grade path up to Rhino Point at (3800 m) and then reach Cobra Point. From there the trekking will be on a rocky ridge in between the Crater and the inner cliffs of Meru Mountain. You'll reach the summit during the first rays of the sun from the East (4,566 m). Normally at this early Mount Kilimanjaro is seen clearly, before descending back to Momella gate.
