Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Begin your journey with a drive from Arusha to Momella Gate, the starting point of your trek. After completing the necessary park formalities, embark on your trek through lush montane forests and open grasslands, home to various wildlife such as giraffes and colobus monkeys. The trail leads you steadily upward to Miriakamba Hut, where you’ll settle in for the evening.

Continue your ascent, trekking through montane forests and transitioning into the heathland zone. Along the way, enjoy the sight of Maio Falls and expansive views of the Meru Crater and Ash Cone. Arrive at Saddle Hut, located at a higher altitude, where you’ll have time to rest and acclimatize for the upcoming summit attempt.

Summit Day (Socialist Peak)

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, navigating the rocky terrain under a starlit sky. Reach Socialist Peak by sunrise, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views, including glimpses of Mount Kilimanjaro. After celebrating your achievement, descend back through Saddle Hut and Miriakamba Hut, eventually reaching Momella Gate. Complete the park formalities and receive your summit certificate before returning to Arusha for a well-deserved rest.
