Its heart is the 4566-meter-high Mount Meru, which is a popular destination for mountaineers. The park has an incredible variety of flora and fauna, which cannot fail to impress. Hollywood also chose this park to film the movie “Hartari” in which Hardy Kruger starred alongside the legendary John Wayne. Arusha National Park lives a quiet life next to its siblings: Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Only a few travelers visit the park, which is a pity because with its unique vegetation Arusha National Park is surely worth a visit or two. Between Mount Meru and Ngurdoto Crater are the Lakes of Momella, which are characterized by swamps, grasslands, and montane forests. The mountain slopes of Mount Meru are covered by tropical rainforests, which make a nice contrast.
