Itinerary

Day 1:Umbwe Gate (1,640 m) to Umbw

Kilimanjaro

Day 2: Umbwe Gate (1,640 m) to Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850 m) Distance: 11 km Hiking time: 5–7 hours Habitat: Rainforest After breakfast, you'll drive to the Umbwe Gate. The trek begins with a steep, winding trail through a dense rainforest. The path is less traveled and very quiet, offering an intimate experience. You'll ascend steadily until you reach Umbwe Cave Camp.

Day 2:Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850 m) to

Kilimanjaro

Day 3: Umbwe Cave Camp (2,850 m) to Barranco Camp (3,950 m) Distance: 6 km Hiking time: 4–6 hours Habitat: Heath/Moorland Today’s hike takes you out of the rainforest and into the moorlands. As you gain altitude, the terrain becomes rockier and the views open up to Kilimanjaro’s glaciers and the Barranco Valley. You’ll arrive at Barranco Camp, one of the most scenic camps on the mountain.

Day 3: Barranco Camp (3,950 m)

Kilimanjaro

Start with the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but non-technical climb offering stunning views. The trail continues across ridges and valleys, leading to Karanga Camp.

Day 4:Karanga Camp (3,995 m) to Ba

Kilimanjaro

A shorter but critical day for acclimatization. You’ll hike through an alpine desert until you reach Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit. Here, you’ll rest, prepare, and sleep early to get ready for the final ascent.

Day 5:Barafu Camp (4,673 m) to Uhu

Kilimanjaro

You’ll begin the final ascent around midnight, trekking in the dark to reach the summit at Uhuru Peak at sunrise. This is the most challenging part of the hike, both physically and mentally. After celebrating at the summit, you’ll descend back to Barafu Camp for a short break before continuing to Mweka Camp for the night.

Day 6:Mweka Camp (3,110 m) to Mwek

Kilimanjaro

A gentle descent through the rainforest leads you to Mweka Gate. After receiving your summit certificates, you’ll transfer back to Moshi/Arusha for a celebratory dinner and rest.
