Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree Camp) Elevation: 2,360m (7,742ft) to 2,895m (9,498ft) Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Distance: 6 km (4 miles) Habitat: Rainforest You begin by driving to Londorossi Gate for registration, then continue to the trailhead. The trek starts through a lush rainforest, where you'll have a chance to see wildlife. The trail is easy as you ascend to Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 2:Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp E

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp Elevation: 2,895m (9,498ft) to 3,505m (11,500ft) Hiking Time: 5-6 hours Distance: 8 km (5 miles) Habitat: Moorland Leaving the forest behind, you climb into the moorland zone, crossing the Shira Ridge. You’ll get your first views of Kibo Peak as you head toward Shira 1 Camp.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp Elevation: 3,505m (11,500ft) to 3,850m (12,600ft) Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Distance: 7 km (4.3 miles) Habitat: Moorland You trek east across the Shira Plateau, with expansive views of Kilimanjaro's peaks and the valley below. This day is relatively easy, allowing more time for acclimatization.

Once at the top, you trek through the alpine desert toward Karanga Camp, with gentle ascents and descents.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp Elevation: 3,995m (13,106ft) to 4,673m (15,331ft) Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Distance: 4 km (2.5 miles) Habitat: Alpine Desert A shorter but steeper climb takes you to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. You’ll have an early dinner and rest before starting the summit climb just after midnight.

You’ll hike through the night, reaching Stella Point at dawn, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, you descend to Mweka Camp
