Enjoy a picnic lunch before starting your trek through the dense rainforest, home to black and white colobus monkeys. This initial 3-4 hour hike will take you to Forest Camp, also known as Big Tree Camp, at an elevation of 9,500 feet, where you'll spend your first night.

Day two : Forest Camp to Shira One Camp
Today's trek leads out of the rainforest into the heath and moorland zone, where the landscape opens up. You’ll walk through rolling hills, crossing streams and lush vegetation as you head towards Shira Ridge. The hike takes about 5-6 hours, covering 8 km, before descending slightly to reach Shira One Camp at 11,500 feet. From this vantage point, you can enjoy stunning views of Kibo, Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak, as you settle in for the night.

Day three : Shira Camp 1 to Moir Hut
The journey continues across the expansive Shira Plateau, a vast high-altitude desert. You’ll trek eastward, admiring panoramic views of Kibo as you make your way to Shira 2 Camp. After a brief stop, continue to Moir Hut at the base of Lent Hills for additional acclimatization. The day covers approximately 14 km over 5-7 hours of hiking, providing the opportunity to explore the plateau's unique flora and fauna, enhancing your acclimatization process.

Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and preparing for the midnight summit push. This is your last stop before reaching the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day seven: Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut
