Arrival in Tanzania Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by a Kizza Adventures representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. This day is dedicated to preparing for your climb: you'll meet your trek guide, receive a comprehensive briefing on the climb, and conduct an equipment check to ensure you have all necessary gear. Any missing items can be rented locally. This preparatory day is crucial for a smooth and successful trek.

First day: To Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m) After breakfast, you will drive for approximately 2 to 3 hours to the Londorosi Gate for registration and permit acquisition. From there, you will continue by vehicle to the Lemosho starting point, where you will enjoy a picnic lunch. Following this, you will meet your full trekking crew, including guides, cooks, and porters. The trek begins with a 7-kilometer hike through lush rainforest, taking around 2-3 hours. Mti Mkubwa Camp, at 2,650 meters, provides an introduction to the diverse flora of Kilimanjaro, including the Impatiens Kilimanjaro flowers. Look out for Colobus monkeys and other forest wildlife along the way. This camp serves as a great acclimatization point and offers an immersive start to your adventure.

After lunch at Lava Tower, you’ll descend through rocky and dusty terrain to Barranco Camp, located at 3,940 meters. This segment completes the South Circuit, offering expansive views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks, Mawenzi and Kibo. Barafu Camp, situated at 4,673 meters in the Alpine Desert zone, provides a critical acclimatization point. Here, you can rest, enjoy dinner, and mentally prepare for the summit attempt. Five day: Summit Attempt and Descent to Mweka Camp (3,100m) Summit day begins around midnight with a warm beverage and preparation for the climb. You will ascend from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters. This 5-kilometer climb takes approximately 7-8 hours, starting with a steep ascent through rocky terrain, followed by a series of switchbacks leading to the crater rim and Stella Point (5,756 meters). Here, you’ll meet climbers from other routes and continue to Uhuru Peak. The early morning light offers spectacular sunrise views. After taking in the breathtaking scenery, you’ll descend to Barafu Camp for a brief rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp, covering a total distance of 17 kilometers. The descent to Mweka Camp takes about 7-8 hours of ascent and 4-6 hours of descent
Final day : Descent to Moshi On the final day, you’ll trek from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, a 10-kilometer journey taking 3-4 hours. The trail passes through varying landscapes, including moorlands and lush rainforest, which can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will be useful. Once you reach the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificate and celebrate your achievement.
