Begin your epic 6-Day Marangu Route Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour at Marangu Gate (1860 m/6100 ft). The journey kicks off with a scenic trek to Mandara Huts (2700m/8860 ft). Cover 8 km/5 miles over 3-4 hours, immersing yourself in the awe-inspiring beauty of the initial climb. The adventure has just started, promising a thrilling ascent to the iconic Mount Kilimanjaro.

On the second day, climbers continue their ascent through the rainforest until they reach the heath and moorland zone. The trail becomes steeper and more challenging as they gain altitude. It takes approximately 5-7 hours to reach Horombo Hut, located at an elevation of 3,720 meters (12,205 feet). This hut also offers basic amenities for overnight stays.

On the third day, climbers continue their ascent towards Kibo Hut. The trail passes through the alpine desert zone, characterized by rocky terrain and sparse vegetation. It takes around 6-8 hours to reach Kibo Hut, situated at an altitude of 4,703 meters (15,430 feet). This hut is the last overnight stop before the summit attempt.

The summit day begins in the early hours of the morning, usually around midnight. Climbers start their final push towards the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak, which stands at an elevation of 5,895 meters(19,341 feet). The ascent is challenging and steep, often requiring the use of headlamps. It takes approximately 6-8 hours to reach Uhuru Peak. The descent follows the same route back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing down to Horombo Hut for their last night on the mountain.

Early morning start, climbing in darkness up frozen scree slopes with torchlight. After 2 hours, reach Hans Meyer’s Cave. The hardest stretch follows, reaching Joanna’s Notch on the crater rim in 3 hours. Scramble to Gillman’s Point (5,685m) for sunrise over Mawenzi. Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,896m) if energy allows. Descent retraces to Horombo Hut (approx. 3 hours).

The last day of these Marangu route climb, pace quickens as you continue your triumphant way back down across alpine meadow and past Mandara Hut through the rainforest to Marangu Gate where you board the vehicle for the journey back to Moshi.
