Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Start your trek at Momella Gate (1,500 meters), where you'll complete registration and meet your guide and porters. Begin hiking through lush forests, home to diverse wildlife, including monkeys and buffalo. Pass waterfalls and enjoy views of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After about 5–6 hours of trekking, reach Miriakamba Hut (2,514 meters) for dinner and an overnight stay.

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

After breakfast, start the ascent toward Saddle Hut (3,570 meters). The trail becomes steeper as you leave the forest and enter the moorland zone. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the Meru Crater and Little Meru. The hike takes about 3–4 hours. In the afternoon, you can opt for a short hike to Little Meru (3,820 meters) for acclimatization and stunning sunset views. Return to Saddle Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

Saddle to Peak to Miriakamba

Begin your summit push early, typically around 1-2 a.m., to reach Socialist Peak (4,566 meters) by sunrise. The trek is challenging, passing through Rhino Point and climbing over rocky terrain. At the summit, enjoy breathtaking views of the Meru Crater and surrounding landscapes. After celebrating, descend back to Saddle Hut for breakfast. Continue the descent to Miriakamba Hut, where you'll have dinner and rest after a long day of trekking.

Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate

On the final day, descend from Miriakamba Hut back to Momella Gate. The descent takes about 3–4 hours, with opportunities to spot wildlife and appreciate the lush surroundings. Once at the gate, receive your certificate for completing the trek and meet your transfer back to Arusha or Moshi. Celebrate your achievement with your team and reflect on the unforgettable experience of trekking Mount Meru.
