1day kilimanjaaro marangu gate
Day 1: Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1,860m/6,102ft) to Mandara Hut (2,700m/8,858ft) Hiking Time: 3-4 hours After breakfast in Arusha, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Complete entry formalities and meet your guide and porters. Begin the hike through the rainforest to Mandara Hut. Along the way, enjoy the lush vegetation and wildlife. Arrive at Mandara Hut in the afternoon. Spend the night at Mandara Hut
Day 2: Mandara Hut
Day 2: Mandara Hut (2,700m/8,858ft) to Horombo Hut (3,720m/12,200ft) Distance: Approximately 12km/7.5 miles Hiking Time: 5-6 hours Leave Mandara Hut after breakfast and start trekking towards Horombo Hut. The trail passes through the forest and then opens up into heather moorland. Enjoy stunning views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks along the way. Arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon. Spend the night at Horombo Hut.
Day 3: Horombo Hut
Day 3: Horombo Hut (3,720m/12,200ft) to Kibo Hut (4,703m/15,430ft) Distance: Approximately 9km/5.6 miles Hiking Time: 5-6 hours Leave Horombo Hut early in the morning after breakfast. Trek through the alpine desert, crossing the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo. Reach Kibo Hut, the last stop before attempting the summit. Have an early dinner and rest for the night. Prepare your gear for the summit attempt.
Day 4: Kibo Hut
Day 4: Kibo Hut Summit Hiking Time: 6-8 hours ascent, 4-6 hours descent to Kibo Hut, then 3-4 hours descent to Horombo Hut Wake up around midnight for a hot drink and a light snack. Start the summit attempt in the early hours of the morning. The trail to Gilman's Point is steep and challenging, with scree and loose gravel. From Gilman's Point, continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Spend some time at the summit, taking photos and enjoying the accomplishment. Descend back
Day 5: Horombo Hut
Day 5: Horombo Hut (3,720m/12,200ft) to Marangu Gate (1,860m/6,102ft) Distance: Approximately 20km/12.4 miles Hiking Time: 5-7 hours After breakfast, descend through the moorland to the Mandara Huts. Continue descending through the forest to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Say goodbye to your mountain crew and receive your summit certificates. Drive back to Arusha for a well-deserved celebration and relaxation.
