Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive In Tanzania

Kilimanjaro

We will pick you up from Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and take you to your accommodation in Arusha, where you will meet your mountain guide for a detailed briefing before your hike. You will be able to clarify last questions and our guide will perform a gear check to make sure that you are perfectly prepared for your hike. You can also rent additional gear in case that anything is missing. The remaining day is at leisure.

Day 2: Lemosho Gate to Big tree

After breakfast, drive to Lemosho Gate, the starting point of the trek. Complete park formalities, meet your guides and porters, and begin hiking through lush rainforest. Enjoy the scenic trail, spotting wildlife such as colobus monkeys and various bird species. Arrive at Big Tree Camp (also known as Mti Mkubwa Camp) at an elevation of 2780 meters. Set up camp, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp to Shira 2

Continue ascending through the rainforest, gradually leaving the treeline behind. Enter the heath and moorland zone, characterized by low shrubs and grasses. Trek to Shira 2 Camp, located at 3900 meters on the Shira Plateau. Enjoy panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape. Set up camp, acclimatize to the higher altitude, and relax after a day of hiking.

Day 4: Shira 2 to Barranco Camp

Begin the day with a steady ascent across the Shira Plateau, crossing rocky terrain and open moorlands. Reach the Lava Tower (4630 meters), where you'll take a break for acclimatization. Descend into the Barranco Valley, navigating steep slopes and rocky paths. Arrive at Barranco Camp (3960 meters), situated beneath the imposing Barranco Wall. Set up camp, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night in preparation for the next day's ascent.

Day 5: Barranco to Karanga Camp

Start the day by climbing the Barranco Wall, a challenging yet exhilarating ascent using hands and feet. Traverse across the Karanga Valley, a scenic area with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Arrive at Karanga Camp (3963 meters), a relatively short distance from Barranco Camp. Set up camp, relax, and enjoy stunning sunset views over the rugged landscape.

Day 6:Karanga Camp to Barafu camp

Continue ascending towards Barafu Camp, the final base camp before the summit attempt. Trek across barren alpine desert terrain, with Mount Kilimanjaro towering above. Reach Barafu Camp (4640 meters), located on a rocky ridge with panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers. Rest, hydrate, and prepare for the summit push, as you'll be starting the ascent in the early hours of the next morning.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak

Wake up in the middle of the night to begin the summit attempt. Start the ascent in darkness, navigating steep and rocky terrain with the aid of headlamps. Reach Stella Point (5739 meters), where you'll witness a breathtaking sunrise over the crater rim. Continue to Uhuru Peak (5895 meters), the highest point in Africa, where you'll celebrate your accomplishment and take in the stunning views. Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Millennium Camp.

Trek Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate

Kilimanjaro

Descend through the lush rainforest, retracing your steps back to lower elevations. Arrive at Mweka Gate (1630 meters), where you'll receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to your guides and porters. Transfer back to your accommodation in Arusha, where you can rest, shower, and celebrate your accomplishment.

Day 9: Depart Tanzania

The day is left free to wind down after your hike and before your flight home.
