Upon arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted by your Kizza Adventures' driver and guide. After a comprehensive briefing and gear check, any missing equipment can be rented. You’ll then be transferred to a comfortable hotel in Moshi for the night, ready to start your adventure.
On Day 1, you’ll drive from Moshi to the Shira Gate, where your Kilimanjaro Rongai Route 7-day trek begins. As you hike through verdant rainforests, you'll marvel at the diverse flora and fauna before reaching Simba Camp for your first night under the stars. Day 2 is a day of exploration and acclimatization, as you traverse grassy moorlands and volcanic landscapes, eventually arriving at Shira 2 Camp, nestled below the stunning Shira Cathedral. Day 3 involves a challenging hike to the Lava Tower, a striking volcanic rock formation. Afterward, you'll descend through the scenic Senecio Forest to Barranco Camp, spending the night at an altitude that aids acclimatization. Day 4 includes a climb up the Barranco Wall, a non-technical but thrilling ascent, followed by a traverse across hills and valleys to reach Karanga Camp, another shorter day to help your body adjust to the altitude.On Day 5, you’ll continue your trek to Barafu Camp, where you’ll enjoy summit views and prepare for the final ascent. Early on Day 6, start your summit push around midnight, navigating the steep, cold climb in darkness. As you ascend, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking sunrise at Stella Point before reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, you'll descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest. Finally, on Day 7, descend through lush rainforest from Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates. From the gate, you'll continue to Mweka Village, where a vehicle will take you back to Moshi. Here, you’ll say farewell to your mountain crew and conclude your unforgettable 7-day Kilimanjaro climbing adventure via the Shira route.

Moshi to Shira Gate to Simba Camp
Kilimanjaro
We will depart Moshi for Londorossi Gate, which takes about 4 hours; Thereafter we will start registration process. After which we will drive up a steep path to the Shira Gate where we will begin the hike. We will pass through shrubs and giant heather until we reach Simba Camp where we will have dinner and overnight.

Today is a fairly simple day for acclimatization. The day starts by exploring the grassy moorland and volcanic rock formations on the plateau. Then we will take a scenic route to the Shira Cathedral, a huge buttress of rock surrounded by steep spires and pinnacles,. Finally we will arrive at Shira 2 Camp for overnight and dinner

Shira Camp 2 to Lava to Barranco
On this day we will head to the east up a ridge and then head southeast towards the Lava Tower – a 300 ft tall volcanic rock formation. From this point we will descend down to Barranco Camp through the worrying but beautiful Senecio Forest to an altitude of 13,000 ft. This day begun and end at the same altitude, the time spent at higher altitude is very beneficial for acclimatization.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Soon after the breakfast we will descend into a ravine to the base of the Great Barranco Wall. Then we climb towards the steep cliff which does not require any technical skills, nearly 900 ft. From the top of the Barranco Wall we cross a series of hills and valleys until we descend sharply into Karanga Valley. One more steep climb up leads us to Karanga Camp. This is a shorter day meant for acclimatization

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

On leaving the Karanga Camp we will hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We take our way up to the rocky section to Barafu Hut. This point is the completion of the the Southern Circuit and it offers summit views from different angles. The Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can also be seen. Here we make camp, rest and enjoy an early dinner to prepare for the summit day.

In the early hours, starting around midnight, we'll face the most mentally and physically demanding part of the trek to Mount Kilimanjaro's summit. Battling harsh winds and cold, we'll ascend in darkness, taking short breaks. Near Stella Point, the reward awaits – a breathtaking sunrise over Mawenzi Peak. The descent follows, leading to Mweka Hut campsite via Barafu for lunch. . Mist or rain may greet us at Mweka Camp. Evening brings our final mountain dinner and a well-deserved

On the final day of our 7-day Kilimanjaro climb via the Shira route, we'll descend to Mweka Gate, gather summit certificates, and navigate potentially wet and muddy terrain. After an hour's walk to Mweka Village, a vehicle will take us to Moshi. Bid farewell to the mountain crew, and a transfer to your hotel concludes this memorable adventure. The next day includes a departure transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport, with accommodation provided on an all-inclusive basis. Welcome aboard!
