Arrival and Orientation Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be greeted by our driver who will transfer you to your hotel in Moshi for an overnight stay. A tour guide will meet you at the hotel to provide a brief orientation of your upcoming tour. Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut On the second day of the itinerary, you will be transported from your hotel to Marangu gate by our guides and a group of porters. The journey to Marangu gate, situated at an altitude of 1843 meters, will commence. Upon arrival, the guides will arrange park permits and register the crew with the emergency service. The group will then begin trekking towards Mandara Hut, located at an elevation of 2700 meters.

The second day on the mountain starts shortly after breakfast, with a strenuous climb ascending through the final stretch of rainforest. This part of the journey is steep and requires a steady pace, as you make your way towards the Horombo hut (3720 m).

You leave Kibo Hut (4700 m) at night and start climbing the top of Kilimanjaro – Uhuru Peak (5895 m). Summiting will be modestly challenging, but the altitude is a huge concern. After roughly two hours you will reach Hans Meyer’s Cave – named after the German geologist who made the first successful ascent in 1889 – where he found the remains of a frozen leopard. The gradient gets steeper and the next three hours on (this is the hardest stretch of the climb!

Following breakfast or lunch, depending on your preference and physical condition, you will embark on a brief stroll from the Kibo hut.
