Arrival and Transfer to Akagera

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by a representative from your tour company who will transfer you to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s largest national park. The journey to the park takes approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and have the rest of the day at leisure. You can enjoy a game drive in the afternoon to get a glimpse of the park’s wildlife, which includes elephants, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species.

Spend the day exploring Akagera National Park. You can go on a morning and afternoon game drive, a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, or participate in a guided nature walk. The park is home to over 500 bird species, so birdwatching enthusiasts will have a field day. The boat cruise on Lake Ihema is particularly rewarding, as it offers excellent opportunities to spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of waterbirds.

Also known for its mountain gorillas, and you will be focusing on the golden monkeys. Once you've taken a briefing from park authorities, embark on a 30 minutes to 3 hours trek to observe the habituated golden monkey group in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, you will be transferred back to Kigali International Airport for your onward journey.
