Murchison Falls National Park is the oldest National Park in Uganda gazetted in 1926 and is the largest wildlife Reserve in the country covering an area of 3840 square km. The game you come across in the park includes elephant, hartebeest, leopard, lion, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, crocodiles and many species of antelopes. Aside from game, this park is renowned for its scenic beauty. Rolling savannah, tall grasslands and thick bush woodlands make the park. But you are advised not to miss out the magnificent waterfalls after which the park is named. Upstream of the Murchison Falls are the Karuma Falls, where the Nile cascades over 23 kilometres of rapids. Here you have some of the most exciting white water in Africa.
Queen Elizabeth National Park described as “Uganda's Great Rift Valley” is the most popular. It spans up to 1978 square kilometers making it Uganda's second largest park and it is largely a savanna grassland protected area. It boasts of its diverse wildlife species that dwell within its sprawling savanna, humid forests, shady and fertile wetlands. This park is a home to 4 of the big 5 game and 10 primate species including chimpanzees and on the other hand, over 620 bird species also thrive here and most of them can easily be spotted while you are safari.

This is home to a host of forest wildlife, most famously 13 species of primate including chimpanzee, red, black and white colobus, blue monkey, grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkey, olive baboon, bush baby and potto. Forest cover predominates in the northern and central parts of the park on the elevated Fort Portal plateau. Kibale is highest at the park’s northern tip which stands 1590 m. above sea level. Large mammals are also can be found there: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, hippo, warthog, giant forest hog, bushpigs, bushbuck, sitatunga, and red and blue duikers.
Mgahinga National Park is remarkably one of a few special safari destinations. This park covers the lush slopes of the 3 Virunga Mountain ranges with area coverage of about 33.7 square km. thus making it the smallest park in Uganda. Remarkably ideal for gorilla safaris, Mgahinga lies at a far-flung southwestern Uganda, neighboring Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. From far away, the vast cones of the Virunga volcanoes govern the panorama and manifest as you approach.
