Machame gate-Machame camp

Hiking time: 5-7 hours | Distance: 11km | Altitude gain: 1,200m/3,900ft After breakfast, the group will be driven to Machame Gate where your climb will begin.Upon arrival at the gate, you will register with the park authorities. The first day of hiking is relatively easy, with a gentle gradient as you make your way through the rainforest. You may spot blue monkeys and various bird species. After a few hours of hiking, you will reach Machame Camp where you will have dinner and overnight.

Hiking time: 4-6 hours | Distance: 5km | Altitude gain: 840m/2,760ft After breakfast, you will continue your trek through the moorland zone towards Shira Camp. The trail becomes steeper and rockier. You will pass vegetation such as giant groundsels and lobelias. As you ascend, you will notice a change in scenery with more open views of the mountain. Shira Camp is located on a plateau and offers stunning views of Mount Meru and Kibo Peak. You will have dinner and overnight at Shira Camp.

This section of the hike offers stunning views of Kibo Peak and Mount Meru.You will have dinner and overnight at Karanga Valley Camp.

Following breakfast at Karanga Valley Camp, ascend gradually through barren landscapes toward Barafu Camp – your base camp for summit night. Dinner will be served early in the evening before getting some sleep ahead of your big day.
