Machame gate-Mti mkubwa

Londorossi Gate (2,250m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m) After breakfast, you will be driven to the Londorossi Gate where you will complete registration formalities. From there, you will begin your trek through the rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. The trek takes approximately 4-5 hours.

Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m) to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) Today’s hike will take you out of the rainforest and into the moorland zone. You will pass through the open grasslands and enjoy stunning views of Kibo Peak. The trek takes approximately 6-7 hours.

Shira 1 Camp

Shira 1 camp-shira 2 camp

Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,900m) After breakfast, you will continue your trek to Shira 2 Camp. This portion of the trail is relatively flat and provides breathtaking views of the Western Breach and Shira Plateau. The trek takes approximately 3-4 hours.

Shira 2 camp-Barranco camp

Shira 2 Camp (3,900m) to Barranco Camp (3,950m) Today’s hike is considered one of the most scenic on the mountain as you will pass through the Lava Tower (4,600m) and then descend to Barranco Camp. This portion of the trail provides stunning views of the Western Breach and Southern Ice Field. The trek takes approximately 7-8 hours

Barranco Camp (3,950m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Mweka Camp (3,100m) Today is summit day! You will begin your ascent in the early morning hours and make your way up the Barranco Wall and then on to Karanga Valley before reaching Stella Point on the rim of the crater. From there, it is a short walk to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa! After enjoying the summit views, you will begin your descent to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain. The trek takes approximately 12-14 hours.

Mweka Camp (3,100m) to Mweka Gate (1,650m) After breakfast, you will complete your descent to Mweka Gate where you will be met by an Ai Search Inc representative and transferred back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved shower and celebration! The trek takes approximately 3-4 hours.
