Safari summary
The Lemosho Route, an extended 8-day trek, offers an exceptional journey with a high chance of summit success. Optimal for acclimatization and solitude-seeking, this route begins at Londorossi Gate, situated at 2360 meters on the western side of the mountain.
The trek unfolds through a majestic rainforest, showcasing unique wildlife indigenous to the region. Ascending to the mountain's third summit at Shira Ridge, the route traverses the renowned Shira plateau, providing panoramic views of the awe-inspiring Shira Cathedral. On day three, the trail merges with the main Machame route, reaching Shira camp. This strategic approach allows for serene climbing amidst remarkable terrain before joining the more frequented path leading to the summit.
Post-summit triumph, the descent follows the Mweka trail, offering an alternative route down instead of retracing the ascent steps. This itinerary not only maximizes acclimatization but also provides a diverse and rewarding experience, from the lush rainforest to the Shira plateau's grandeur, ensuring an unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure.
