Arusha|Machame Gate | Machame Camp

Begin your day early with breakfast, followed by a briefing and a 90-minute drive from Arusha /Moshi to the Machame Park Gate. After registering at the gate office, your ascent starts as you enter the rainforest. A lunch pack is provided. Be ready for potential rain, turning the trail damp and muddy. As evening nears, porters will provide boiled water, and the cook will prepare dinner before you retire to your tent. Note that Machame camp temperatures can drop to freezing at night.

Machame Camp to Shira Campsite

At Machame camp, rise early, climb an hour to the forest's peak, then trek 2 hours through moorland. After lunch, ascend a rocky ridge to the expansive Shira plateau, revealing stunning views of the Western Breach and glaciers. Arrive at Shira camp (3,840m) after a short hike. Porters ensure water, dinner, and readiness for a colder night below freezing.

Post-dinner, guide briefs on the summit attempt, covering route, challenges, safety measures. Rest for the late-evening ascent.

Rise at 23h30, tea in hand, ascend northwest through scree to Stella Point. A mentally and physically challenging 6-hour walk. At Stella Point (5685m), briefly rest, witness a sunrise. From Stella Point, snow accompanies a 2-hour ascent to Uhuru Peak. Summit time varies with weather; avoid prolonged stops due to cold. Celebrate the achievement. Descend 3 hours to Barafu, rest, collect gear, then head to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.
