This pristine, secluded, and less-traveled path leads to the Shira Plateau, offering a beautiful ascent. Some trekkers opt for it to climb the Western Breach route or combine it with the Kibo South Circuit for an easier ascent via the Barafu Route. The initial day rarely features wildlife, and armed rangers are not part of the group. The standard route spans 7 days, occasionally extended to 8 or 10 days with a stay at Karanga Valley.

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be picked up and taken to the Hotel accommodation for an overnight stay. Dinner and breakfast are included.

Londorossi Gate to Shira Camp 2

Kilimanjaro

Travel from Moshi or Arusha to Londorossi Gate (2,250 m) via Moram using Shira trails to reach Shira 2 campsite (3878 m). After Moram, follow a forest track in a 4WD vehicle for 11 km/7 miles (45 minutes) to Shira trails and a potential campsite. Continue on foot from Shira trails, trekking for 3 hours along scenic forest trails to reach Shira 2 campsite.

Shira Camp 2 to Moir Hut

Journey from Shira 2 campsite (3,878m) to Moir Hut (4,200m) as the trail gradually steepens. Traverse through the giant heather moorland zone, crossing the Shira Ridge en route to the Moir campsite, located near the Lover Tower (4,200m).

Moir Hut to Pofu Campsite

From Moir Hut (4,025m) to Pofu Camp (4,025m), commence the morning trek transitioning from the moorland to the stark alpine desert. Ascend a steep ridge off the main trail, entering the Northern Circuit Route. The total trekking time spans approximately 5 – 7 hours. At the Pofu Campsite, relish a splendid view of the wild lands of Kenya to the north.

Pofu Camp to Third Caves Camp

From Pofu Camp (4,025m) to Third Caves Camp (3,600m), continue through valleys and over ridges in the alpine desert and moorland. Progressing eastward on our circuit, relish the expansive mountain wilderness. The trekking duration for today is approximately 5 - 7 hours.

Third Caves Camp to Kibo Camp

From Third Caves Camp (3,600m) to Kibo Camp (4,700m), continue through valleys and over ridges in the alpine desert and moorland, progressing southward on our circuit. Embrace the expansive mountain wilderness. As you reach the foot of Kibo, temperatures drop. The trekking duration for today is approximately 4 - 6 hours. Prepare your gear for the next day and rest early. An afternoon resupply of fresh food and supplies will reach the camp.

Kibo Camp to Uhuru Peak

From Kibo Camp (4,700m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), then to Millennium/High Camp (3,110m), a midnight wake-up starts a 7-8 hour trek. Navigate switchbacks and steep slopes to Gilman's Point. After reaching Uhuru Peak, descend to Gilman's Point, then trek to Millennium Camp for the night.

Millennium Camp To Mweka Gate

Kilimanjaro

From Millennium/High Camp (3,110m) to Mweka Gate (1,830m), descend directly for 2-3 hours. Enjoy lunch at the gate, receive your climbing certificates, and spend the night at Springlands Hotel or a similar accommodation.
