This bike cycling tour is an excellent cycle tour in Tanzania takes in the incredible sets of waterfalls that surround the lower slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro named Materuni waterfall.
Materuni Waterfalls is a big waterfall close to Moshi town, just 15 kilometers away. It takes about 1.5 to 2.5 hours to get there from Moshi Town. You can stand under the waterfall, jump off it, and swim in the cool water at the bottom. The area around the waterfall has rivers, plants, coffee, and banana trees. The waterfall is really tall, more than 80 meters high.
When it rains a lot, be careful while swimming. Don't swim too close to the waterfall because there's a small cave behind it where someone could get stuck, and there are many crabs. Especially for kids, it's important not to swim too close.

If you combine the waterfall visit with a bike tour of a coffee village, it makes a great day trip on a day when you're not climbing Kilimanjaro or on a wildlife safari. After swimming and taking a break for lunch in the valley, you can also visit an old Chagga cultural site village. Depending on the season, you might visit a coffee plantation where you can roast, brew, and drink your own fresh coffee. You can also have a hot lunch there it's your choice. Visiting this place is an amazing experience.

Our cycling journey starts from Moshi and goes to Materuni village through different villages. Along the way, you'll see how the Chagga people live and hear some traditional stories. The ride is challenging, covering a distance of 15 km. At the traditional site, they'll be happy to show you how they make coffee or brew banana beer. Finally, you can have a picnic lunch there, or a hot lunch if you prefer. Don't forget to buy souvenirs to support them. In the afternoon, we'll ride downhill back to Moshi town, concluding our cycling tour.
