Safari summary
The Serengeti Migration is a natural phenomenon in Tanzania, involving millions of wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores moving across the Serengeti Plains in search of fresh grazing grounds. This annual cycle spans 1,800 miles and is driven by food and water availability. The herds move in a circular pattern, starting in southern Serengeti and continuing northward towards Maasai Mara in Kenya. The return journey begins in October, completing the cycle. Visitors can witness the migration firsthand through safari tours, which offer accommodation options like luxury lodges and mobile tented camps. Other national parks in Tanzania offer unique landscapes and wildlife experiences.
The 9-day Great Serengeti Migration Tanzania safari, spanning Serengeti National Park and Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya, offers a unique experience with wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle herds, including Mara River crossing. The Tanzanian safari itinerary includes a journey to Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park, Central Serengeti, North Serengeti, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Lake Eyasi.
