Seven Days Kilimanjaro Climbing Tour via the Machame Route
The 7-Day Kilimanjaro Machame Route, often referred to as the "Whiskey" route, has risen in popularity, becoming the favored choice for many climbers. Contrasting the Marangu route, the Machame route extends the trekking days and introduces more challenging, steeper ascents.
This seven-day Kilimanjaro Machame route Tour prioritizes acclimatization, enhancing your chances for a successful summit. Unlike the condensed schedules, the 7-day option divides the trek from Barranco to Barafu into two days. This strategic pause before the summit day, which kicks off at midnight, ensures a well-rested start. The extra time allows for summiting and descending to camp before sunset, sparing climbers from severe sleep deprivation on the most challenging ascent. The Machame route, renowned for its difficulty, offers incredible hiking experiences, making it a preferred choice for many adventurers.
The Machame route's unique terrain, marked by frequent ascents and descents, promotes better acclimatization and, consequently, success. To maximize your chances, it's advised to take your time, opting for the 7-day itinerary, boasting an impressive average summit success rate of 85%. Your journey on the Machame route promises both challenge and reward, creating lasting memories for intrepid climbers.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Cave
Kilimanjaro
After breakfast, we leave the glades of the rain forest and continue on an ascending path, crossing the little valley walking along a steep rocky ridge, covered with heather, until the ridge ends. The route now turns west onto a river gorge. Time for rest, dinner, and overnight at the Shira campsite.

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Cam
Kilimanjaro
Continue your journey eastward, taking in the views along a ridge and heading towards the impressive Lava Tower, a 300 ft tall volcanic rock formation. Descend through the Senecio Forest to Barranco Camp, benefiting acclimatization, despite starting and ending at the same altitude.
Barranco Campsite
Day 4:Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Kilimanjaro
We begin the day by descending into a ravine to the base of the Great Barranco Wall. Then we climb the non-technical but steep, nearly 900 ft cliff. From the top of the Barranco Wall we cross a series of hills and valleys until we descend sharply into Karanga Valley. One more steep climb up leads us to Karanga Camp. This is a shorter day meant for acclimatization.
Karanga Campsite
Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Kilimanjaro
We leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the rocky section to Barafu Hut. At this point, you have completed the Southern Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest and enjoy an early dinner to prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are viewable from this position.
Barafu Campsite
Day 6:Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka
Kilimanjaro
Start the summit ascent around midnight. This mentally and physically demanding phase includes extreme wind and cold. After hours of ascent, reach Stella Point (18,900 ft) and witness an unparalleled sunrise over Mawenzi Peak. Finally, stand on Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro and in Africa. Descend to Mweka Hut via Barafu for lunch, with a rocky trail that can be hard on the knees. Expect mist or rain at Mweka Camp.
