Kilimanjaro

After breakfast and a briefing, drive from Moshi or Arusha to Londorossi Park Gate (2250m, 1.5 hours). A 4WD vehicle takes you to Lemosho Glades (2000m, 11km, 45 minutes) and a potential camping spot. Hike for three hours, reaching Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m/8694f) through a rainforest where raincoats are essential. The mountain crew will have tents set up and lunch prepared. After lunch, acclimatize with a 300m gain hike to Shira 1 Camp, then return to Mti Mkubwa Camp for a hot dinner.

Mti Mkubwa Camp

Mti Mkubwa To Shira Camp 1

Kilimanjaro

You'll have a hearty breakfast this morning before setting off on your adventure. The elevation your party reaches is 3,500 meters (11483 ft). At that point, you'll get your first glimpse of the magnificent Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano. The journey from Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m/11844), the second high-altitude camp, is generally straightforward and takes 5–6 hours. This will enable you to gradually begin the acclimatization process, which is essential to successful hiking.

Shira Camp One

Shira Camp 1 To Shira Camp 2

Kilimanjaro

You will leave Shira 1 Camp (3,610m/11843f) today and go to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m/12631f), the next high-altitude camp. You may see breathtaking views of the African savanna, Kilimanjaro's distinctive flora, and the surrounding area on this straightforward trip. Weather permitting, Shira 2 Camp is the greatest location on the journey to see Mount Meru, the second-highest mountain in Tanzania and the fifth summit of Africa.

Shira Camp Two

Shira Camp 2 To Lava Tower

Kilimanjaro

After breakfast at Shira 2 Camp (3,850m/12631f), your journey continues to Lava Tower (4,600m/15091f), a critical point on the trek with various ascents and descents. Take 1-2 hours to acclimatize and enjoy lunch here. Expect some challenging sections due to the altitude. Later, descend to Barranco Camp (3,900m/12795f) where you'll see the impressive Barranco Wall, which you'll conquer the following day. Don't fret; the climb is manageable and not intimidating.

Barranco Camp
