Safari summary
The trek using the Lemosho route starts above the Londorosi Gate, already at an altitude of 2360 meters. This route takes longer, is often considered to be the most scenically varied, and as a newer route, it experiences lower numbers of trekkers. More time is spent in the atmospheric rainforest and the extra time spent acclimatizing means a high success rate in reaching the summit.
Trekkers enjoy a more remote experience than on the more popular routes and there may be chance encounters with elephant, buffalo, leopard, colobus monkeys and other mammals on Day One. Lemosho route is a real favorite for photographers.
With the years of experience, our company has enjoyed, you can be assured that our knowledgeable and, above all, passionate staff, will take care of all the complex and important arrangements for the climb of this legendary mountain. We want you to have the best possible Kilimanjaro climb experience!

Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha | Kilimanjaro
DAY 1: KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO ARUSHA Touchdown at the Kilimanjaro International Airport where your own personal driver will be waiting to greet you. Let your driver whisk you away to your chosen hotel in the bright and bustling city of Arusha – gateway to Tanzania. Arusha is the beating heart of the wild – the last port of civilization before heading out into dense jungles and rich savannah plains. The markets of Arusha burst with color, and throng with locals picking up their weekly wages. The numerous cafes sell dark and deliriously good coffee from the plantations, and close by the infamous National Park lures visitors in to explore her evocative Maasai culture and exotic flora and fauna.
Day 2
Arusha
DAY 2: LONDOROSSI GATE & STARTING POINT – MTI MKUBWA Leave in the morning from Arusha to Londorossi village were gate is located. The start of trail 2100m trek winds up through the lush forest zone on to the lower slopes of the northern side, going to Shira Plateau. Overnight at Mti Mkubwa
Day 3
DAY 3: MTI MKUBWA – SHIRA 1 CAMP Trek to Shira 1 Hut hiking through the fine open moorlands. Overnight at Shira 1 Hut.
Day 4
DAY 4: SHIRA CAMP 1 TO SHIRA CAMP 2 Compared to yesterday, our climbing today is less (350 meters of ascent) and takes us up to an altitude of 3850 meters. The distance we cover will be similar, at approximately 7km. It is a steady, uphill climb and you should expect about 3.5 to 4 hours of walk time in total. Our breakfast today is at the civilized hour of 08.00 and our departure one hour later. We set off in a south-eastern direction across the moor and heathland of the Shira Plateau. Buffalo, dik-dik, and klipspringer graze here and can occasionally be seen. We intend to reach Shira 2 Camp - which is also known as Shira Huts - by 13.00, in time to be served a hot lunch. Dinner tonight will be 18.00.
Day 5
DAY 5: SHRA CAMP 2 TO BARRANCO CAMP Today we are back to our early, 07.00 breakfast time, ready for 08.30 departure. We have around 10km to cover, but although we will finish our day only 90 meters higher than we started it, in between we have to climb to the foot of the Lava Tower (4267 meters) before we then descend once more, down to Barranco for our overnight stop. You can expect around 6.5 to 7 hours of walking, during which time you leave the Shira Ridge and the Lemosho Route joins up with the more popular Machame trail. The scenery today changes to the predominantly Alpine desert. Your picnic lunch will be at 13.00, arrival at Barranco around 16.00 and dinner at about 19.00.
Day 6
DAY 6: BARRACO CAMP TO KARANGA CAMP Today we breakfast slightly later (07.30) and our walk is short, being the only 4km but still taking between 3.5 and 4 hours of walking time. Our departure time today will be 08.30 and we will enjoy a hot lunch at 13.00 at Karanga and have the afternoon to enjoy the views before dinner at 18.00. Our altitude gain today is only 160 meters. At the beginning, we encounter the hardest part of today's stage as we have to scramble up the near-vertical face of the Barranco Wall (also commonly referred to as the 'Breakfast Wall' as you tackle it right after your breakfast!). At the top of this climb, you will be rewarded with views of the Heim Glacier. After this, the rest of today's walk becomes a bit easier as we first descend to the gully below, and into the cold but beautiful Karanga Valley. We then continue and finally climb up a steep series of zig-zags until reaching the Karanga Camp.
Day 7
DAY 7: KARANGA CAMP TO BARAFU CAMP Another short day -in terms of distance - begins with our breakfast at the camp at 07.30 and another 08.30 departure. Today we will ascend about 500 meters in a distance of around 5km and walk time once again is between 3.5 and 4 hours. We will be aiming to arrive the Barafu Camp by 13.00, when we will be rewarded with a hot lunch. (With tomorrow being the summit day, it will be important to relax and prepare for the hard work ahead.) Dinner tonight is served at 17.30, giving you time to get to bed early. After leaving Karanga, today's stage climbs steadily, passing through barren, rocky landscape, with the Decken and Kersten glaciers visible away to your left. At the top of the climb, the landscape remains bleak as you descend into a valley and you get your first sight of another glacier, Rebmann. At the end of this valley is today's goal, the Barafu Camp, at which you arrive after a short, steep scramble and a walk.
Day 8
DAY 8: BARAFU CAMP – SUMMIT UHURU – MWEKA CAMP Barafu to Uhuru, 5895m, then descends to Mweka, 3100m. You will wake at about midnight for the torchlight climb to Stella Point, approx. 7 hours with rest stops, and finally to the highest point, Uhuru Peak with fantastic views of glaciers and plains far below. Descend to Mweka or High Camp, arriving late afternoon. Full board.
Day 9
DAY 9: MWEKA CAMP – MWEKA GATE - ARUSHA A descent of some 4 hours takes you to Mweka Village where you are met and transferred back to the Planet Lodge. Full board
Day 10
DAY 10: DEPARTURE – KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Enjoy a sumptuous lie in and a breakfast fit for kings before checking out of your hotel.
