I booked a safari with Eric Muchai of Tracks Berg Travel to go to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater.Eric took my deposit of $2000 USD which was 30% of the trip price.
He told me the rates had gone up due to government demands, which proved to be a lie. After receiving my money he would not answer my emails and has refused to repay my deposit. He is in my estimation a liar and a cheat. If anyone is considering using this company I would strongly recommend they do not. There are several other reviews written by people who had a similar experience.
Avoid at all costs.

We had a fantastic safari with our driver guide Martin. He was very well informed, cheerful, and fun. 2 parents and our 3 children, 6, 9 and 11 yrs quite the age range to test the mettle of any guide. Our lodge was very nice and, most important, we saw plenty of animals.
I had set my heart on a hunt as I had read that Masai Mara was one of the few places that one could witness this, but I wasnt holding my breath. To my luck we saw a pride of 6 lionesses get close to a group of zebras and with a bust of blurred speed one of the poor zebs was down, totally making my trip. Martin really helped improve our odds, very knowledgeable with animal behavior.
During the booking process we paid a little extra to have a Landcruiser instead of a minivan. We're glad we did! A big thank you to Martin, Erick and Ashley!
Renting a Rav4 from Tracks Berg Travel was by far the best decision we could have ever made for our 20 days trip to Kenya and Tanzania. After a year of research, research and more research through different travel forums we engaged Tracks Berg Travel and a couple of other car rental companies, Erick responded very fast to our questions and offered solutions to the best routes, accommodations or where we needed to amend our itinerary.
When it came to the payment Erick requested we pay an initial 20% deposit of the total cost and the balance on arrival so that he could facilitate the Comesa insurance for the border crossing. We transferred this via PayPal which was confirmed within 10 minutes and we got a confirmation receipt.
On our arrival day, our flight was delayed for 2 hours in South Africa but we managed to message Erick who was already at the airport. Upon arrival we found Erick with our names on a board and proceeded to the car. The Rav4 was in excellent condition! After the final payment and signing of the rental agreement we left the airport and off on our trip. Throughout our trip Erick kept in contact with us to check if everything was okay. (We were very impressed by this). The border crossing to Tanzania was flawless as we had all the relevant documents including the Comesa insurance that was arranged beforehand.
On the last day we returned to Nairobi with a few hours to our flight. The Rav4 was just outstanding to the end. We felt we were well taken care of by Tracks Berg Travel and we especially thank Erick for the excellent service! (We have already recommended them to our friends who are visiting Kenya later in the year).
We contacted Tracks Berg Travel a couple of months before our trip. Erick was very prompt in communicating and keeping in contact throughout the whole lead up to our trip.
We had Samuel as our driver guide who has excellent knowledge of wildlife, birdlife, flora and fauna on top of this he was very good in reading the body language of animals and with this we were able to witness 6 lions take down a zebra. All in all our trip went smoothly thanks to Erick and the staff at Tracks Berg Travel!!
Thank you so much for a wonderful safari!
We did a self-drive safari in the beginning of September, apart from the mechanical problems we had with the car our biggest problem with Erick Muchai Ndungu and Tracks Berg Travel or Wild Savannah Safaris Kenya Edition which is also in his name, was the fact that he cheated us out of our 900 Euro safety deposit! We returned the car to the airport for pick up but he was not there, the guy he sent did "not know" about the deposit, on the phone he promised to come asap but he never came and then stopped communicating.
Upon return home I wrote him and he made excuses and he has been making excuses now for almost a month, even if I propose to start with paying me back 100 Euro he promises to do it, but then never does!
Don't trust this person!
He will ask for money transfer via western union and cash upon arrival.
His address in Nairobi seems to be no more then a postal address. And the car(s) are not his...
Pay a bit more with a real company and safe yourself the trouble!
A big thanks to Erick and his team for arranging a day trip to Mt. Suswa.
I have nothing but positive remarks: excellent car, professional driver and very friendly staff. Price/quality was very good!
I would recommend Track Berg Travel for all you inquiries.
Thank you so much and see you soon

We contacted Tracks Berg Travel through a referral, since we had only a limited time in Nairobi we could opted to do a day tour, Erick came back with a beautifully crafted itinerary including pick up from our hotel near the airport and later dropped us off at the airport. We had productive and enjoyable time in Kenya. Yesterday we returned home. It was short but quite a hectic trip.
We enjoyed Erick's company as a guide he is punctual, diligent, knowledgeable, honest, reliable, polite, and intelligent person. I hope he will flourish in his career.
Just settled back in our cold country after a nice tropical safari to Kenya, already missing Africa. I would like to thank Erick at Trackberg Travel for organising such an amazing safari trip. We had a 3 night Masai Mara safari. Our stay at Mara Intrapids camp was definitely the highlight, the accommodation, food, staff and guides were wonderful. What a brilliant time of year, hot and humid, and not as we expected as many had said January is low season. Animals everywhere and in abundance. Babies from lions, hyenas, elephants, gazelles, zebra, warthogs, cheetahs and ostriches--with a dozen chicks-who knew they could be so cute! I do think we may have been very lucky first timers, as not only did a leopard pop down from her tree and wander off for a drink for us but a couple of cheetah brothers reappeared in the park for us to see. We checked at the leopard and she was by now feeding on her kill up the tree. We had stopped to take a couple of photos and moments later a large pride of musiara marsh appeared and surrounded the tree we were the only ones there, what a wonderful lucky day! Pretty much of luck again on our last day, dozens of wild dogs, we took so many beautiful photos and we couldn't imagine that we had seen such a great number of animals and in variety, thanks to our very patient, knowledgeable guide.
Absolutely good value for money-well recommended!
Tracks Berg was by far the best decision we could have ever made in planning our trip. We were picked up at the Stanley hotel by our guide Joseph. Our 4*4 Toyota land cruiser was very comfortable and specious for just five of us. Joseph not being a terrific guide he was also very friendly and punctual. Joseph somehow knew where every animal lived in the parks we visited. We had the opportunity to see all the big five! We had an 11days safari. Starting from meru, Samburu, Sweetwater, Aberdare nakuru and masaai mara. Joseph always wanted to make sure we were having a great time on safari.
Elsa Kopje felt so natural and the view from our unique accommodations overlooking the park presented a chance to see variety of animals. We saw baboons, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, hippos, lions, ostrich and zebras--incredible.
The Sarova Mara Camp was the best, little more luxurious than Nakuru Lodge, the staff here were incredibly accommodating, our camp had outdoor seating that gave for a very incredible view, next day after we were treated to a very unique Bush lunch. The location was perfect with very scenic views and we saw very many giraffes just are short distance from the camp.
We were well taken care of by tracks Berg travel and we thank them for that wonderful safari and for the enjoyment that came by it. I think we saw most of the highlights.
Book your safari through this company and you will not be disappointed.
