About Generous African Tours & Tanzania Safaris

Generous African Tours & Tanzania Safari is a locally owned tour company based in Tanzania. We specialize in Mount Kilimanjaro and Meru trekking, wildlife safaris across Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and beach holidays in Zanzibar. Our focus is to give travelers a truly local and unique experience, guided by passionate experts who know Tanzania best. Finally we are connecting you with our friends operating in Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda.

About our safari vehicles

We use 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers for all our safaris. Each vehicle is well-maintained and has a pop-up roof for better wildlife viewing and photography. Our safari jeeps are fitted with a fridge or cooler box for drinks, charging sockets, comfortable seats, and enough space for both private and group safaris. Every vehicle comes with a professional driver guide and spare tires to handle the rough roads of the national parks.

This trip blew my expectations out of the water.

Five days exploring Serengeti and Ngorongoro felt like stepping into a wildlife documentary but in real life. From the first morning game drive to the last evening around the campfire, everything flowed with such natural rhythm.

We camped under star-filled skies, listened to distant lions at night, and woke up to zebras grazing nearby. Our guide was absolutely phenomenal patient, knowledgeable, and truly passionate. He spotted animals from miles away and explained their behaviors in a way that made the experience much deeper.

Transport was smooth. The vehicle had charging ports and a fridge with cold drinks, which was a big plus. Food? Simple but hearty. Every meal was fresh, and they were careful with hygiene which I really appreciated.

The highlight for me was standing at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater at sunrise. I’ll never forget that view.

This wasn't just a vacation it was a journey I’ll carry with me forever.

"Unforgettable wildlife and scenery — But room for improvement on vehicles"

I recently returned from a 4-day safari adventure across the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, organized by a local company, Generous African Tours and Tanzania Safari. The experience was everything I hoped for in terms of nature and wildlife — truly a photographer’s dream. Seeing the Big 5 in their natural habitat was something I’ll never forget, especially the early morning moments in the golden light.

Day 1 began with the drive from Arusha to Serengeti. Long hours on the road, but the anticipation kept us going. The scenery changed dramatically as we got closer to the park. We spent the night at Tanzania Bush Camp's, where the hospitality and food were a real highlight — fresh, local ingredients and warm service made a big difference after a dusty day.

Day 2 was a full day in the Serengeti, and it was magical. From lions lounging under trees to elephants grazing calmly — the sightings were incredible. Osere Lodge was our accommodation — simple but comfortable enough, and located close to nature, which I appreciated.

On Day 3, we moved toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where the terrain shifted, and the scenery became lush and dramatic. And Day 4 was the grand finale — descending into Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful and animal-rich places I’ve ever seen.

Now, for the honest part — while the guiding team did their best, and the itinerary was well-structured, the safari vehicles need serious attention. Some windows remained open throughout, and the amount of dust entering the car was excessive, especially on the rougher roads. I understand the road conditions are naturally challenging, but vehicle maintenance and sealing should be a priority. For the price and the length of the trip, travelers expect better comfort.

That said, the food throughout the trip was impressive, especially at Tanzania Bush Camp’s — it was one of the most satisfying parts of the experience. After long days in the bush, the meals felt like a reward.

Overall, the safari delivered on the adventure, photography, and wildlife front. It left me with unforgettable memories and images. I just hope the company pays more attention to vehicle quality and guest comfort, as that would really elevate the experience without taking away from the authenticity.

We are a family of 5 who booked our 6 day Serengeti safari through Generous African Safaris for July 2025. My husband and I had been to the Serengeti about 20 yrs ago so had a good idea of where we wanted to go and to stay. We booked with Generous Safaris and paid the deposit 10 months in advance to secure the lodges we wanted. Grenus was very helpful and responsive at the time of booking. He confirmed that all our bookings were made and sent us a final itinerary. However, closer to the time of our trip, we tried to speak to Grenus to reconfirm that all was in order and to finalise pick up and stay details one last time. We found it extremely hard to get a response from him which was a bit disconcerting given how accessible he had been earlier. We just put this down to him being busy. About a week before our trip, we were sent final lodge confirmations from Grenus, and it was significantly different from what we’d booked and paid for. For example, we were very keen to stay on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater, and had planned our whole trip to Tanzania (instead of Kenya), based on that, but he had now booked us at another lodge 2 hrs away. Also, we had booked the Serena Serengeti lodge for 3 nights only to turn up there and be told we were now booked at a different lodge 2.5 hours away, for two nights and at this one for one night! Even our guide/driver wasn’t informed. As a result we had to then drive another 2.5 hrs after having been on a full day game drive. While the lodge was nice, it was not the season to be in the west as the migration had moved north and we didn’t see much wildlife there.
On the positive side, our driver and guide – Swazy– was very good and helpful and had a lot of knowledge about the local area. However, the overall experience left a bad taste and we would NOT RECOMMEND this company. We understand that plans can sometimes change but for them to not inform us especially given how well in advance we booked ans paid and for us to find out things while we are on the trip is clearly not acceptable.
Grenus, while he appears to be well meaning, is an exceptionally poor communicator and does not deliver on what he promises. We don’t think he can be trusted and therefore would urge travellers to be extremely careful before they spend thousands of dollars on the trip of a lifetime only to then be surprised that it is not what they have been promised
