Day 1
Day 1 Welcome to Namibia! We will pick you up from Hosea Kutako International Airport, situated 40 km from Windhoek, capital of the country. Directly from the airport you are comfortably transported to the safari lodge. Meals: dinner served at the lodge. Distance: 70km. Duration: around 1 hour. Accommodation: 1 night in Windhoek.
Day 2
Day 2 After breakfast, on the way to Sossusvlei, one of the most amazing and fascinating places on Earth, situated in the very heart of the sandy dunes. The Namib is considered to be the oldest desert in the World and recently The Namib „Sea of Sand” was inscribed as the UNESCO World Heritage. Traveling through the surreal, diverse and changing regions, from bare desert-land, through African bush, grassy savanna to sandy dunes. Experiencing thrill of being surrounded by the world of mountains, rocks and sand. Sheer feast for passionate photographers – capturing nature with the eye of camera! On route, celebrating crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn with the glass of champagne! Arrival at the lodge, for rest and relaxation after the trip. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner at the lodge near Sossusvlei. Distance: 450km (gravel road). Duration: around 8 hrs with stop-overs. Accommodation: at the lodge 2 nights near Sossusvlei.
Day 3
Day 3 Early morning drive to Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei, place of the highest dunes in the World, set in the midst of the World’s oldest desert. Unique chance for spectacular landscape photography! Climbing scenic Dune 45, while enjoying incredible desert vistas and ever changing scenery of the Namib. Afterwards visit to Deadvlei where ancient, dried up acacias stand amidst the orange dunes creating surrealistic landscape. Later, that day visit at the spectacular rock formation of the Sesriem Canyon. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner. Distance: 150km (gravel roads).
Day 4
Namib-Naukluft
Day 4 Adventure starts at sunrise, as we travel through the Namib-Naukluft Park, admiring dried up Kuiseb riverbed, holding back the mighty dunes, seemingly as if stopped by the giant, invisible hand. In the evening, arrival at the coastal town-oasis Swakopmund. Magnificent landscape of the Namib reaches as far as eye can see. Wildlife, grazing antelopes: kudu, oryx and springbuck, mountain zebras, rare black rhino, giraffes and World’s biggest „birds that don’t fly” ostriches. Meals: breakfast, lunch, diner at the local restaurant in Swakopmund. Accommodation: 2 nights in Swakopmund. Distance: 450km (gravel road). Duration: 8 hours with stop-overs and lunch break.
Day 5
Day 5 Coastal adventure at the Moon Valley! You are invited to the „lunar landscape” and for a discovery of the botanic attraction,Welwitchia mirabilis, known as the „living fossil”; considered to be one of the oldest and most original plants on Earth, remembering the times of Christ! Afternoon optional attractions, not included in the tour’s price: Thrilling quadbike ride into the dunes and rolling hills of the Namib. Early morning yacht cruise to the flamingos’ and fur seal’s colonies. City tour of Swakopmund and visit to the Crystal Gallery and local craft market. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Distance: 150km on gravel and tar roads.
Day 6
Day 6 Travelling on the coastal salt-road leading us 160 km north to the Cape Cross and the Cape Fur Seal colony. After observing huge family of these aquatic mammals, we are turning east into the desert, towards mountainous Brandberg Massif, one of the most magnificent and majestic places of Namibia. At Brandberg, we will meet famous „White Lady”, a unique image of the white figure, surrounded by animals and hunters, and discover beauty of ancient rock paintings created by the Bushmen. Meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Accommodation: 1 night at the lodge in Damaraland. Distance: 350km (gravel road, including 160km salt road). Duration: 8 hrs with visiting and stop-overs.
Day 7
Day 7 Discovering the beauty of rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, UNESCO World Heritage site. We will admire most interesting engravings, out of over 2000 works, created centuries ago in the rusty-orange rocks by the Bushmen inhabitants of these regions. We are surrounded by fascinating nature, rock formations and a magnificent landscape of the Damaraland. Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner at the safari lodge. Accommodation: 1 night at the lodge. Distance: around 400 km (gravel road). Duration: 9 hrs with visiting and stop-overs.
Day 8
Etosha
Day 8 and 9 Wildlife Sanctuary! We are on the way to Etosha National Park – treasure of Namibia, considered to be one of the most loved and most visited game parks of Africa! We are welcomed by wild animals and white sand of the plains. During afternoon game ride, we are admiring variety of magnificent animals: antelopes, giraffes, zebras as well as huge African elephants, rhino, lions, hyenas roaming through the bush. In the evening, relaxing dinner served in the thrilling atmosphere of the wild. At the waterhole, thirsty animals gather for the drink of water, while you are invited to watch the ever-changing theater of nature till late! We will spend next two days on trails of Etosha, searching for wild animals of the savanna. Meals: breakfast in Damaraland, other meals at the Etosha’s restaurant. Accommodation: 2 nights at one Etosha's camps inside the park. Distance: 300 km (tarred roads). Duration: around 4 hours with the stop-over.
Day 10
Etosha
Day 10 After breakfast we bid „Bye, bye!” to beautiful Etosha and travel south to Windhoek, capital of Namibia. There is time to do last shopping for gifts, souvenirs and curios at the local craft market in Okahandja and enough time to take the last photos of beautiful Africa. Meals: breakfast, lunch on route. Distance: around 450 km (tarred roads). Duration: 7 hrs including stop-overs for lunch and shopping. Your safari ends at the International Airport, while we wish you a safe trip filled with warm memories of an exotic African land, as well as many happy returns to Namibia with Wild Wind Safaris!
