Itinerary

Day 1

Virunga

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali & Drive to Parc National des Volcans Upon arrival in Kigali you will be met by a representative and driven through the lush green Rwandan countryside to Kinigi at the foothills of the Virungas in Parc National des Volcans. Upon arrival you’ll check in to your accommodation where you’ll stay for the next two nights. Overnight: Parc National des Volcans Meals: (_/Lunch/Dinner)

Day 2

Day 2: Gorrila Tracking Today you will experience a once-in-a lifetime wildlife encounter with the wild mountain gorillas of Rwanda. After an early breakfast you’ll be driven to the Parc National des Volcans HQ where you’ll meet your guide who will brief you about your trek and the various aspects of ‘gorilla etiquette’. Then your professional guide will lead you deep into the forest in search of your allocated gorilla family. The high altitude and steep, slippery trails and the humidity under the forest canopy can make the trek challenging, but it’s definitely worth the effort to spend time with wild mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Day 3

Nairobi

Day 3: Tour of Kigali & Fly to Nairobi After breakfast this morning you will return to Kigali where you’ll have an opportunity for a guided tour of the city, including a visit the Genocide Memorial and Education Centre which is a permanent memorial to those who were killed during the 1994 genocide. This afternoon you’ll be driven to the airport for your onward flight to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi a representative will be transferred you to your accommodation. Day 4

Masai Mara

Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara This morning you will be driven to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport for your scheduled light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara. Upon arrival at the Masai Mara you will be met by a representative and driven to your safari lodge or camp where you will stay for the next three nights. We use a number of different award-winning safari camps and luxury lodges within the Masai Mara and we will ensure that we match you to the most suitable accommodation for your requirements and sense of style. Day 5

Masai Mara | Serengeti

Day 5: On Safari in Masai Mara Today you’ll enjoy morning and afternoon game drives on the plains of the Masai Mara. This iconic reserve offers amazing wildlife viewing opportunities and it’s highly likely that you’ll see zebra, impala, gazelle, wildebeest, buffalo, rhino and elephant, plus lions, cheetahs and leopards. If you’re visiting at the right time of year you can see the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth - the Great Migration – when over 2.5 million wildebeest migrate north from the Serengeti National Park to the Masai Mara National Reserve in a seasonal annual cycle driven by rainfall. Day 6

Masai Mara

Day 6: On Safari in Masai Mara Today you can start your day with a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the plains of the Masai Mara followed by a champagne breakfast. You’ll also enjoy two thrilling game drives where you’ll spot an abundance of African wildlife, plus your lodge or camp may also offer the opportunity for a night game drive where you’ll see nocturnal animals such as aardvarks and honey badgers. There are a range of other activities you can participate in during your time in the Masai Mara, including cultural visits to Maasai villages and markets, guided bush walks, horse riding, and black rhino tracking experiences. Day 7

Nairobi

Day 7: Fly to Zanzibar & Transfer to the Beach Today you’ll enjoy an early morning game drive before being driven to the airstrip in time for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Nairobi where you’ll board a connecting flight to the exotic island of Zanzibar. You will be met on arrival in Zanzibar and driven to your accommodation where you will stay for the next four nights. We offer a range of accommodation options on the island and we will ensure that we match you to the most suitable accommodation for your requirements and sense of style – whether that is a rustic beach lodge or a luxurious 5 star resort. Day 8

Days 8-9: Zanzibar Beaches You’ll spend the next three days enjoying Zanzibar at your leisure. With its beautiful sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters and colourful coral reefs, Zanzibar is the perfect destination for post-safari relaxation. Should you wish to be active there are plenty of excursions that you can join, including visits to historic Stone Town, Jozani Forest, Prison Island, the spice plantations and cultural tours to local villages. There’s also a wide choice of adventure activities that you can participate in, including mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, wind surfing, kite surfing, sea kayaking and sailing, plus the island has fantastic coral reefs which are perfect for diving and snorkelling – and you may even be lucky enough to see dolphins, green turtles and, at certain times of the year, whale sharks. Day 10

Masai Mara

Day 10: International Return Flight Sadly your ‘Gorillas, Masai Mara and Zanzibar’ adventure has come to an end. After a final breakfast at your hotel you’ll check-out of your accommodation and you’ll be driven to back to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) for your flight home.
