A critical part of this migration occurs in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, specifically the Ndutu Plains, located in the southern part of the Serengeti and within the Ngorongoro ecosystem. The wildebeest arrive in the Ndutu region to calve—more than 500,000 calves are born over just a few weeks.
