Day 1: • 7:00 – 8:35am: Fly from Dar es Salaam to Iringa (Mon / Tue / Thurs / Sat only) • Breakfast in Iringa • Drive from Iringa to Mbeya • Bed & Breakfast in Mbeya  

Katavi

Day 3:  • Drive to Sitalike (~ 3 ½ hours) • Lunch and Lodging: Riverside Campsite bandas • Half-day game drive in Katavi National Park! “..how Earth must have looked in the beginning,  before the arrival of humans..”  

Katavi | Mahale Mountains

Day 5:  • Drive from Katavi National Park to Kalema on the shores of Lake Tanganyika: "the world’s  longest, second deepest, and least-polluted fresh water lake!" • To Mahale Mountains National Park by boat (~ 3 hours in good weather) • Lodging: Park Bandas

Day 7:  • Tracking chimpanzees in Mahale Mountains Nat’l Park!  • Lodging: Park bandas  

Katavi

Day 9:  • Full-day game drive in Katavi National Park! "It is during the dry season (August to October),  when the floodwaters retreat, that Katavi truly comes into its own. The Katuma River, reduced to  a shallow, muddy trickle, forms the only source of drinking water for miles around, and the  flanking floodplains support game concentrations that defy belief!  An estimated 4,000 elephants might converge on the area, together with several herds of 1,000- plus buffalo, while an abundance of giraffe, zebra, impala and reedbuck provide easy pickings  for the numerous lion prides and spotted hyena clans whose territories converge on the  floodplains." • Lodging just outside the park
