Safari summary

Embark on the Marangu Route, the shortest and easiest path to Kilimanjaro's summit, often referred to as the "Coca Cola" or "tourist" route. This is the sole trail with solar-powered sleeping huts and comfortable beds at each camp. The communal huts house 60 beds at Mandara and Kibo, and 120 beds at Horombo. Bathrooms and running water are available at the lower huts, with basic latrines at the final camp.

Starting from Marangu village, the trail proceeds westwards to Kibo. Traverse lush rainforest, heath, moorland, alpine desert, and the arctic zone at the peak before retracing the same route. The journey begins in the southeast at the Marangu gate.
