Itinerary

Marangu Gate to Mandara hut

Kilimanjaro

Starting Point: Your trek begins at the Marangu Gate, which is the entry point for the Marangu Route. Hike to Mandara Hut: The trail starts in lush rainforests. It's a relatively gentle hike through beautiful scenery. After about 3-4 hours, you'll reach Mandara Hut (2,700 meters or 8,858 feet) for your first overnight stay.

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

Kilimanjaro

Forest to Moorland: The landscape changes as you leave the rainforest and enter the heath and moorland zone. Expect a 4-6 hour hike to reach Horombo Hut (3,720 meters or 12,205 feet), where you'll spend the night.

Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut

Kilimanjaro

Acclimatization: This day is for acclimatization, and you'll have the option to take short hikes in the area or rest at Horombo Hut. This helps your body adjust to the increasing altitude and enhances your chances of a successful summit.

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Kilimanjaro

Desert Zone: The terrain transitions to a barren desert-like environment. Hiking time is about 6-8 hours to reach Kibo Hut (4,703 meters or 15,430 feet), your last stop before the summit.

Summit Day

Summit Ascent: You'll start the summit attempt in the early hours, typically around midnight. This challenging ascent can take 6-7 hours, and you'll need to be well-prepared for cold temperatures and high altitude. Uhuru Peak: Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters or 19,341 feet), the highest point on Kilimanjaro, to witness a breathtaking sunrise and unparalleled views. Take in the achievement and capture the moment before starting the descent. Return to Horombo Hut:

Final Descent: The last day involves a descent through the moorland and rainforest zones, passing Mandara Hut, and finally reaching the Marangu Gate. Certificate and Celebration: You'll receive a certificate for your Kilimanjaro summit attempt. Celebrate your accomplishment before heading back to your accommodation in Arusha or Moshi.
