“Tsavo is quite hot so hats, sunglasses and sunscreen will be your best friends.” - Koi

Home of the Tsavo lions

Tsavo National Park is the largest national park in Kenya and is divided into two parks (East and West) which are divided by the Mombasa-Nairobi railway and road. Located near the coast, the park is most famous for being the home of the Tsavo lions during the construction of the railway. The park has a rich history and I was lucky enough to get a good guide and got to enjoy the natural beauty as well as lean a bit of the history.

The park is home to elephants, buffaloes and numerous other animals and although you might not get to see all the animals listed but I got to see quite a few. The scenery is beautiful and the landscape is breathtaking. The Lugards falls on the Galana river is a series of rapids that only adds to the beauty of the landscape. I had the great chance of walking down the banks of the river and enjoy the scenery. The Aruba dam along the Voi river provides a good place to enjoy the cool breeze which is a good welcome from the hot sun.
At the end of my visit, I was sure of one thing: Tsavo National Park is definitely worth a second visit.
