About me

I lead bird-watching tours to various locations, mostly in Ecuador, but have also led one birding safari in northern Tanzania. I've traveled in the Middle East, South America, India, southeast and east Asia. When traveling with a birding group, I ensure a comfortable and safe experience for my clients, as well as access to the best habitat for birding. When traveling on my own, for recreation or while scouting new locales, I travel rough. I usually stay wherever the locals would stay and eat whatever the locals would eat. This helps me get perspective on the place, and gives me stories to tell my clients when I return with a tour group.

My safari travel style: Back-to-basics—I prefer old school camping and can pitch a mean tent. I like being off the grid and am ready to sleep under the stars. I don’t mind helping set-up or cook dinner. I’m the original safari enthusiast!
