“Light-colored clothing is the way to go.” - Wanderlust

Great skies and baobabs

Views: 466 Visited: Jan 2008 Reviewed: Apr 21, 2013

Tarangire is my fourth-favorite park in Tanzania, after Serengeti Selous and Ngorongoro Crater, respectively. We spent three days here and I think that would be more than ample. I thoroughly enjoyed our day drives and seeing the baobabs and termite mounds. The skies here, for some reason, seem more dramatic than those of Lake Manyara or Ngorongoro, and I found I was taking photos at every opportunity. We saw tons of elephants and lions. The biggest downer would be the tse-tse flies. They are similar sized to horse flies or March flies. They are diurnal, which means they are active during the day. Some of the folks in my party were more popular with the flies than I was, and I think they really suffered on the drives as a consequence. On the whole, I really loved this park and would gladly return.
